The Networker Movie Review: Plot Overview

The film starts with Aditya facing ruin after his MLM collapses and his home is at risk of auction. He forms a new scam with Raghav and Lallan, backed by influential financier Pradhan (Atul Srivastava). They launch “Sky High,” promising AI-based public service robots. To gain trust, they appoint Pradeep Biswas (Ishtiyak Khan) as the MD and market the scheme with motivational hype. They quickly raise ₹10,000 crore—without a single robot being built. As the scam unravels, guilt emerges, and grudging returns are made to early investors while they flee abroad.

Performances and Direction

  • Vikram Kochhar delivers a sincere performance as a desperate conman, though his character lacks emotional layers.
  • Rishabh Pathak’s Raghav is natural but underutilized.
  • Durgesh Kumar indulges in over-the-top expressions (a highlight of criticism).
  • Ishtiyak Khan and Brijendra Kala add charm, though their roles are limited.

Director Vikas Vishwakarma tries to satirize MLM culture but fails due to a weak screenplay and inconsistent tone. Critics describe the storytelling as shallow, repetitive, and unrealistic in portraying how scams actually operate.

Technical Aspects and Music

Visually, cinematography and editing fall flat—scenes feel dull and editing drags . Dialogue is described as uninspired, with poor delivery diminishing satirical impact . The musical score is functional but unremarkable .

The Networker Movie Review: Final Verdict

While The Networker starts with a promising premise—paralleling real MLM and Ponzi schemes—it quickly falls into cliché traps. A few humorous setups and committed performances aren’t enough to save a thin plot with unrealistic turnarounds. Most critics agree it fails to deliver meaningful insight or engaging drama:

  • Times of India rates it 1.5/5: “Shallow storytelling prevents this scam story from taking off”.
  • Film Information blames a “truly terrible screenplay” and weak directorial vision.

Despite housefull shows in some regions, mainstream response remains lukewarm.

Rating: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2/5)
