A Real Pain premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, earning the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award. It was released in U.S. theaters on October 18, 2024, and in India on January 17, 2025. The film received critical acclaim, with a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 85 Metascore. It was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, including Best Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Actor for Eisenberg, Best Supporting Actor for Culkin, and Best Screenplay.​

Streaming and Home Release

The film became available on digital platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home on December 31, 2024. It began streaming on Hulu from January 16, 2025. The Blu-ray release was on February 4, 2025.​
